HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL
Cultivating Excellence since 1920
The Italian School of Casablanca was established in 1920 in the center of the city, rue Omar Riffi, in a rented building.
In 1930-1931, when construction work on a state-owned building intended to house public schools and the consular headquarters at 21 Hassan Souktani Street was completed, the school was transferred to this new location.
In 1932, the college was transferred to the Roches Noires district, at 33, rue Al Zouberi Bnou Al Alouam and operated there until 1942, when the school was closed due to war.
In 1958, the M.A.E. authorizes the reopening of schools.
On January 26, 1970, a cultural agreement was signed between Italy and Morocco.
In 1983, the M.A.E. (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), due to a sharp reduction in the number of students, decided to destate the Italian schools in Casablanca.
Schools in Tangier are closed.
In 1984, the Roches Noires college was also closed and transferred to the consular headquarters where the elementary school was already operating.
In 1987 the nursery school was established, and in 1989 the scientific high school “Carlo Erba”, recognized by law, was established.
In 1992, the M.E.N. (Ministry of National Education in Morocco) has given its agreement on the equivalence between the diplomas awarded in the primary and secondary cycles of II.SS. II. of Casablanca and those delivered in Moroccan public schools.
This decision did not become fully official until February 1993 with its publication in the local newspaper.
From the 1995/96 school year, the official destatalization of primary and secondary schools in Casablanca began, due to a considerable reduction in the number of Italian students.
Since that same year, the Italian school has been managed by a single management committee of the LR private schools of Casablanca.
On November 13, 2007, during a solemn ceremony attended by ENI officials, the Ambassador, the Consul General, the Presidents of the different Associations, students, teachers and parents, the plaque bearing the new name of the school complex “SCUOLE ITALIANE PARITARIE “ENRICO MATTEI”” has been revealed.
